Donald Trump has seen "Melania" the movie – well, parts of it – and he's ready to give it a rave review.
Talking to reporters on Air Force One Sunday, the president said a new documentary about his wife, first lady Melania Trump, would not disappoint. The project, set to be released on Amazon Prime Video Jan. 30, will premiere at the newly named Trump Kennedy Center.
"I've seen pieces of it, it's incredible," he said. "Everybody wants tickets to the premiere. I think it’s going to be great."
"The premiere [is going to be] at the Trump Kennedy Center, it will be very exciting. It's a very hard ticket I can tell you, everybody, Wayne Gretzky and his wife Janet … he said last night 'gee I wanna go,'" the president continued, per The Independent. "She did a book and the book was a big number one best seller, and this is a movie and it seems to be captivating a lot of people's attention."
The controversial documentary chronicles the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration through the eyes of the first lady as she readies to transition her family back into the White House, according to Amazon. "Melania" will be the debut project of the first lady and former model's new film production company, Muse Films, which she announced via social media in November.
Aside from the break in norm of a sitting first lady steering a private company whilst her husband is in office, the project has also drawn criticism for its choice of director. "Melania" is being helmed by Brett Ratner, largely known for his work on action flicks like "Red Dragon," "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Rush Hour." In 2017, Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct by several women. The filmmaker was also found to be prominent in one of several photos in a recent Jeffrey Epstein files release.
The documentary is his first feature film since the 2017 allegations, though a fourth installment of "Rush Hour" is reportedly in the works at Paramount, following an alleged push from President Trump.
