Mr Gabriel Aku, Headmaster of Kpedze Senior Secondary School, has advised parents not to over burden their female day-students with house chores to the detriment of their studies.
He observed that male day-students were doing better comparatively in the school because they seemed to have ample time at home to study while
their female counterparts literally run the home.
Mr Aku said this at the school on Friday when Milkyway Group Career Guide, an Accra based NGO presented three bicycles to three male students,
who commute to the school from Akome, a five-kilometer journey.
They are Frank Kotoko, Mawuli Hor and Gideon Sakah.
Mr Aku said parents must manage the home in such a way that gave enough time to their day school students to enable them to compete favourably with those in the boarding houses.
Master Mawuli Hor told the Ghana News Agency that his day usually starts at 0400 hours. He said he does house chores before starting the five
kilometer journey on foot to school.
Mr Soji Talabi Malm, Chief Executive of the NGO, said the group assists disadvantaged students to develop their educational career.
Togbe Adzidoah, Public Relations Officer of the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who represented the Regional Director, advised the students to make the best out of opportunities that came their way.
