The Chairman of the African Peer Review Mechanism Government Council, Rev. Prof. Samuel Kwesi Adjapong, has appealed to Municipal and District Chief executives not to introduce politics into
the work of the committee.
He said they should rather give financial support to the committees to enable them to carry out its functions successfully.
The Rev. Prof. Adjapong said this at the inauguration of the 9-member Gomoa West District African Peer Review Mechanism Oversight Committee at Apam on Wednesday, He said the time had come for Africans to diagnose their own problems and find an antidote to them.
"Lack of good governance is partly responsible for the slow growth and development of Africa," he said.
The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, promised 2,000.00 Ghana Cedis towards the effective
functioning of the committee for this year.
He appealed to the committee to work towards the promotion of education in the district.
The Chief of Apam, Nana Effrim X who chaired the function, expressed regret that Gomoa and the Ekumfi areas are among the poorest in the Central
Region and suggested that Poverty Reduction Committees in the three northern regions should be replicated in the Central Region.
