The Ghana Rubber Estates Limited, (GREL) on Friday donated a 31 inch- colour television, a DVD player and a power regulator, valued at 800 Ghana Cedis to the HIV/AIDS Counselling Centre of the Sekondi
Central Prisons.
Mr. Joseph Garbrah, Human Resource and Administrative Manager of GREL presented the items to Mr. Patrick Darko-Misa, Western Regional Director of the Ghana Prisons at a ceremony in Sekondi.
Mr. Garbrah said the donation was in response to an appeal by the Regional HIV/AIDS Focal Person to the company to facilitate the refurbishment of the centre to enable HIV/AIDS positive prisoners to have access to retroviral drugs and help in the education of the inmates against.
He said the GREL had set up a HIV/AIDS Solidarity Fund to support Persons Living with HIV/AIDS in its catchment area.
Mr. Darko-Misa thanked the GREL for the kind gesture and called on other philanthropic organisations and individuals to follow the example and come to the aid of the prison.
