A 26-year-old labourer who had in his possession foreign and locally manufactured pistols with 24 rounds of ammunitions, on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Mamudu Ibrahim, whose plea was not taken, has been charged with possessing firearms without lawful excuse.
The court presided over by Mr D.E.K Daketse, remanded him in Police custody to reappear on June 1, 2010.
Meanwhile, a duplicate docket is being prepared so that the matter would be referred to the Attorney-General for advice and prosecution.
Chief Inspector J.K Anim told the court that the complainants were Police personnel of the Monitors Unit based at the Regional Headquarters, Accra.
During the night of April 27, this year, the Police personnel who were patrolling at the Weija area had information that some armed robbers had
invaded a house at SSNIT area at Weija.
The description of area rather led them to the house of the accused person whom they suspected to be one of the robbers.
The team of police personnel conducted a search in Ibrahim's room and foreign and locally manufactured pistols were found.
He was arrested and escorted to the Regional Police Headquarters and charged.
