The Kade District Magistrate Court on Monday granted GHC 1,000 bail with one surety to Appiah Samuel, a farmer, who appeared before it charged with threatening to shoot another farmer, with
the intent to put him into fear of death.
Appiah pleaded guilty with explanation but following his explanation, the Magistrate, Mr Abdul Majid Iliasu, entered a plea of not guilty for him.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court that the
complainant, Ebenezer Nkansah and the accused were farmers resident at Abaam.
He said they both married from one family at Abaam and were farming on their wives family lands.
On May 04 at about 09.30 hours, the complainant was on his cassava farm which shared a boundary with Appiah's wife's farm.
While on the farm, the complainant noticed that the accused had crossed the boundary into his farm and was weeding a portion that belonged to him.
The prosecutor said the complainant then went and asked the accused to stop further encroachment into his farm, but that angered Appiah and he threatened to shoot the complainant if he did not stop claiming that the portion belonged to him.
A report was made to the police and Appiah was arrested and during interrogation he admitted threatening the complainant with a cutlass after
the complainant first threatened him with his cutlass.
