A Hohoe Circuit Court has convicted Herbert Kwaku Amediku, a commercial driver, to a fine of 100 Ghana Cedis for careless and inconsiderate cycling, resulting in the death of Osman Musah, a seven year-old pupil.
Amediku, pleaded guilty to careless and inconsiderate cycling and negligently causing harm.
He was sentenced on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector Richard N. Abbey, prosecuting, narrated to the court presided over by Mr Edward Apenkwah, that Amediku then riding a Yamaha AG 100 motor-bike to Hohoe from Golokwati direction, knocked the deceased.
He said the incident occurred at the outskirts of Ve-Golokwati, at about 1800 hours on May 30, 2009.
Mr Abbey said the deceased, who sustained serious head injuries died soon on arrival at the Hohoe Municipal Hospital.
He said the docket on the case, which was forwarded to the Attorney-General's Department for advice, was returned on March 22, this
year, leading to charges being preferred against Amediku and the conviction.
