Fishmongers at the La, who sell outside the market under sunshine, have expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the area for showing concern about their plights and providing them with canopies.
The canopies valued at GH1,950, was provided by Nii Amasah Namoale, the MP for Dadekotopon from his MP's Common Fund following an appeal made by the fishmongers that their businesses had suffered in recent times due to
the harsh sunshine and rainfall conditions.
They said even though individually, some of them have umbrellas to serve as shades, they were not strong enough to withstand the harsh weather
condition.
Nii Namoale, who is also the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture in charge of fisheries, urged the fishmongers and other market women at La to always ensure that their wares were kept and sold in an environmentally healthy condition.
The MP also later provided similar canopies to the Dagaaba Association, a northern region group residing in La for their meetings and other
functions.
In another development, Nii Namoale presented a projector valued at GH2,900 from his MP's Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to the Labone Secondary School, also within the Constituency.
Mrs Joyce Osei Agyekum, Headmistress of the school expressed gratitude to the MP and said he (MP) had been of immense help to the school in diverse ways.
She said every request the school had made to Nii Namoale had been fulfilled and noted that the projector would now enabled the ICT laboratory
of the school to improve and fast track its teaching and learning of the subject.
Nii Namoale also handed over a construction of a GH1,400 bridge at Asafoatsebu Street near "3-Steps" at La to residents.
Over 2,000 people including school children are said to be using that bridge daily.
