Management of Kasa Project has opened entries for its second media contest and awards scheduled for July, 2010.
Kasa, "speak" in Twi, is a project which seeks to promote action and a more coordinated
engagement of civil society organisations in the natural resource and environment sector.
This is to assist government achieve equity, accountability and transparency in the governance of natural resources and the environment.
A statement signed by Naa Oye Nettey, Communications and Events Officer of Kasa Project, said the event recognised importance of the media in information dissemination and in advocacy.
The awards aim to reward innovative journalism in the sector with the view of making an effort to increase awareness, support, improve and inform the public about natural resource and environmentalgovernance, challenges and choices that confront civil society in improving
governance in natural resource and environment for the benefit of communities, regions and the
country.
Kasa supports civil society, research and media organisations to advocate, in a concerted effort, for equitable access, accountability, and transparency in Natural Resource and
Environmental Governance (NREG) in Ghana.
It builds rapport with the media as a partner in order to give prominence to natural resource and environmental issues coverage and reportage.
The statement said to be eligible a contestant must have published articles in print or online, musthave aired news items or documentaries on television or radio.
The articles, publications, news items and documentary must be outstanding in their coverage,
perspective, interpretation and impact reportage must be centred on natural resources and
environmental issues in Ghana.
Publications and news items must be original and well researched, must have been published or
aired between October, 2009 - April 2010.
Interested applicants must send copies of the publication, news item well labelled and readable,viewable.
Provide information on the media house which published or aired the item and its circulation and coverage.
Entries can be e-mailed to kasa@co.care.org or hardcopies sent to the Kasa Secretariat in Osu.
Deadline for submission has been extended to June 30, 2010 and awards are expected to be held
before the end of July, 2010.
