The Minister for the Interior, has on the advice
of the Upper East Regional Security Council, and by Executive Instrument, renewed for a week the curfew imposed on the Bawku Municipality and its environs.
A statement signed by Mr Martin A.B.K. Amidu in Accra said the curfew took effect from Wednesday, June 30, and the curfew hours remained from 6:00 pm to 6:00am each day.
The statement said: "Government continues to appeal to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and people of the area to use dialogue and other
non-violent means in the resolution of their conflicts and disputes".
It reiterated that there was a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality, and its immediate environs - Zabzugu, Binduri, Pusiga and
Zoasi from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any person found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted.
