Kofi Twum, unemployed, has appeared before the Kade District Magistrate's Court charged with stealing GHC 145 belonging to a coconut seller.
His plea was not taken and was remanded in prison custody to reappear on July 9.
Police Inspector, D.T. Nartey, prosecuting, told the court that in April last year, the complainant engaged Twum to assist him to purchase coconut at Boadua.
Whilst at Boadua with the accused, the complainant after bargaining with the owner of the coconut, climbed to the top of the coconut tree leaving behind an amount of GHC 145 in a sack under the care of Twum.
The prosecutor said Twum realizing that the complainant was on top of the tree stole the money and left the place.
The complainant, after plucking the coconut, could not trace the accused and also realized that the money had been stolen.
Suspecting that Twum might have stolen the money, the complainant reported the case to the Police.
The prosecutor said Twum, after stealing the money, left for Accra and returned to Akyem Osenase, on June 11, and was arrested upon a tip-off.
During Police investigations, Twum admitted the offence and was, therefore, charged with stealing and put before the court.
