Noted BBC travel writer and brother of the Duchess of Cornwall, Mark Shand has flagged off the Kerala Carnival 2010 at Riverside walkway here.
In addition to traditional dance and music, the
Carnival will also feature Ayurvedic stalls at South Bank here. It will also serve up a veritable feast of traditional Keralite cuisine, handicrafts and other unique specialities of the state.
The two-day event will create a traditional temple festival from Kerala state in south India, popularly known as God's Own Country, for Londoners.
Among those present on the occasion were Kerala's Minister for Health and Social Welfare P K Sreemathi, Rajya Sabha MP Dr T N Seema, Kerala MLA Thomas Chazykadan and London Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes.
