A circuit court in Cape Coast presided over
by Mr Richard Asiedu Badu, on Friday sentenced a 20-year unemployed to an 18 year jail term in hard labour, for defiling a three-year old girl.
Daniel Bekoe, popularly known as Paa Kwame, a resident of Assin Darmang near Fosu pleaded guilty and the court sentenced him accordingly.
Prosecuting, Inspector Daniel Agbezuhlor said last Saturday, July 3, the complainant one Madam Elizabeth Amenyitor left the girl and went out to fetch water at a nearby river, and the accused who stays near her house lured the little girl into an abandoned building.
He said Bekoe put the girl on the bare floor and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her and after the act gave the victim cocoa drink amidst
warnings not to disclose it to anybody.
Inspector Agbezuhlor told the court that Bekoe was confronted by a witness who saw the two together and he readily admitted the offence.
He said the witness informed the girls mother who in turn reported it to the police and Bekoe was arrested, while the girl was given a medical form for examination and treatment at the hospital.
