Two South Korean men were booked on charges of
prostituting Vietnamese women brought into the country disguised as brides for Korean husbands, police said Friday.
A 51-year-old suspect identified only by his surname, Kwak, allegedly facilitated the illegal entry of Vietnamese women by submitting fake
marriage documents to the South Korean embassy in Vietnam, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Kwak's partner, a 40-year-old suspect identified by his surname, Kim, was booked on charges of hiring the women as prostitutes.
Police said Kwak pocketed nearly 364 million won (US$303,637) from the Vietnamese women for arranging their entry into South Korea. Kim made about a similar amount of money through his prostitution ring, police said.
Investigators said they are looking for other accomplices in Vietnam.
