Mr John Odoom, the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Director of Education, on Friday, urged
science teachers to make the teaching of science friendly and meaningful, by making it applicable and related to everyday life.
Mr Odoom made the appeal during the closing session of a two-day workshop on "science and technology innovation", organized by the District
Directorate of Education at Twifo-Praso.
More than 130 school pupils drawn from all the Junior High Schools in the district participated in the workshop, which was aimed at introducing JHS pupils to the study of science and its importance to national development.
Mr Odoom encouraged science tutors to be innovative and endeavour to use simple scientific means in their environment to find solutions to some of the immediate needs around them.
He impressed upon the pupils to see science as an everyday lesson and not to be frightened of the subject because as many students as possible
should take up the subject and consider it as an important aspect for national development.
Mr Odoom expressed his gratitude to the District Chief Executive as well as the Member of Parliament for the area, for supporting the workshop.
The participants later went on an excursion to acquaint themselves with the operations of the Twifo Oil Palm Plantations at Twifo Nefrewaso.
