Mr. Raphael Tuffour, acting Accountant General, on Monday called on accounting officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies to acquaint themselves with financial reforms in Public Financial Management Systems initiated by the government.
He made the call in an address read for him at the opening of a three-day workshop on Public Financial Management for Heads of MDAs and MMDAs in the Western Region at Takoradi.
Mr. Tuffour said study of the financial reforms the government had embarked upon as part of the fiscal decentralization policy would enhance the work of accounting officers.
He said the latest reform that had been introduced by the government was the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).
Mr. Tuffour said the continuous updating of skills and knowledge of public sector staff on best practices would assist to "Produce a cutting edge and consistent improvement in our service delivery".
He said citizens are increasingly demanding for the use of resources and audit reports consistently reveal some control weakness in the management of public funds.
