The Ajumako District Magistrate's court has sentenced a 31-year old carpenter from Breman Bennin to 15 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a pig.
Kwesi Abeaku pleaded guilty.
Police chief Inspector Gershon Awuyee told the court that on November 19 the complainant left his pig pen to the care of his wife and travelled to Mankessim.
The following morning Abeaku took advantage of the absence of the complainant stole and sold one of his pigs.
Chief Inspector Awuyee said when the complaint returned from his trip and went his pen with the intention of selling some of his pigs, he detected that one of the animals was missing.
The complainant later found his animal with the buyer and reported the matter to the police.
Chief Inspector Awuyee said the police arrested the seller and the buyer and during interrogation, Abeaku admitted stealing the pig.
