Tragedy struck Atweakor, a hamlet in the Jomoro Distrcit, last Saturday night when an unknown assailant shot and killed a 75-year-old tenant farmer and wounded his wife.
The body of Mr Abanga Yariga has been deposited at the morgue of Axim Government Hospital for autopsy while his wife is on admission at the Ekwe Catholic Hospital, Mr Philip Tanga, former Assembly member for the Mtaba electoral area, told the GNA at Half Assini.
He said the couple was sleeping in their room at Atweakor when somebody called the deceased from the darkness in a nearby bush.
Mr Tanga said the unknown assailant shot Mr Yariga in the right ribs immediately he came out from his room killing him instantly while his wife was shot in her right leg.
He said the wife raised the alarm which attracted a Good Samaritan to the scene who took her to the hospital.
