X-Pharm Consult, a Pharmaceutical Advocacy Group, has congratulated Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh on his appointment as Health Minister and urged him to work hard to transform the sector.
It said it has every reason to believe that he would bring his rich experience as pharmacist to bear on the ministry to improve health care delivery in the country.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Kwame Peprah Boaitey, Executive Secretary of the group, in Kumasi on Friday.
The group expressed the hope that the Pharmacy Council and Food and Drugs Board, under Mr Chirehs watch, would be adequately resourced to effectively tackle the influx of fake drugs on the Ghanaian market.
The statement called for prompt payment of health insurance claims and better remuneration for all health professionals to end the frequent strikes in the health service.
It appealed to Yieleh Chireh to ensure the passage of the Public Health Bill into law.
The statement noted that the best thing any nation could give to its people was access to good health through enhanced care, safe and affordable medicines.
