Thai Criminal Court on Tuesday released on bail seven anti-government or the "red-shirt" core leaders and one member after they have been detained since the bloody crackdown in May.
The "red-shirt" leaders granted bail are Nattawut Saikua, Weng Tochirakarn, Korkaew Pikulthong, Kwanchai Praipana, Wiphuthalaeng Phatthanaphumthai, Nisit Sinthuprai, Yosawarit Chuklom, Thai media Nation Channel reported.
They were released on the condition that they must not leave the country or instigate violence.
Each person has to put 600,000 baht (about 19,600 U.S. dollars) at security.
After knowing the ruling that their leaders were granted bail, a group of red-shirt supporters who were waiting outside the court cheered jubilantly, but later decided to keep calm as fearing to be considered as interfering the court's ruling, local media reported.
The seven core leaders have been detained for terrorism charge since the major crackdown on "red-shirt" protesters in May 19.
The anti-government protesters occupied Ratchaprasong intersection, Bangkok's central business zone, for more than one month and called for the government to dissolve the parliament and hold fresh election. The demonstration ended after a week-long confrontation with the troops and many red-shirt core members were charged with terrorism.
