Mexican migratory agents detained 89 Central American undocumented migrants in Tepeapulco municipality in Hidalgo state, center of the country, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
The Ministry said in a statement that the undocumented were detained in the last 48 hours, and that among them there are 58 Honduran, 16 Guatemalans and 15 Salvadorians.
Among the detainees are 80 men, five women and four minors.
The operation was carried out by agents of the National Institute of Migration, state police and municipal police.
According to the National Institute of migration (INM) some 300,000 undocumented migrants enter Mexico each year illegally, most of them stay working in Mexico and very few are able to reach the United States.
