H.E. Peter Jones, the new British High Commissioner has paid a courtesy call on the Management and staff of ETV and Happy fm. His visit was to formally introduce himself to both stations since his assumption of office, and to familiarize himself with the operations of both stations.
The station managers of both ETV and Happy fm, John Osei Tutu Agyeman and Charles Osei-Asibey, took him on a tour of both stations. In an address to the ETV newsroom personnel, H.E. Peter Jones noted that next year would be a very eventful year with the Olympic Games in London, the diamond celebration of the Queens’ reign and the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections coming up.
He added that the British High Commission had enjoyed a very fruitful relationship with the Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC). “We certainly look forward to strengthening our working relationship”.
H.E. further commended GMABC for adopting a non –discriminatory policy and providing equal opportunity for all. This was after he interacted with Paul Anomah-Kordieh, a visually impaired news anchor at ETV.
Mr. Ernest Boateng, Director of Finance and Administration of Global Media Alliance (GMA) noted that the company valued and appreciated the relationship with the British High Commission. “We consider the British High Commission a key partner and stakeholder in the country. We will actively engage with you to continue nurturing this valuable partnership”.
He also used the occasion to inform H.E. Peter Jones that GMABC was expanding its frontiers on the Ghanaian market, with the launch of Yfm in Takoradi a couple of weeks away. “As an integrated media and entertainment company, we are passionate about bringing quality entertainment and informative programming to our audiences on all our platforms. With the imminent launch of Yfm in Takoradi, we are thrilled about replicating the Yfm excitement here in Accra in Takoradi”.
He thanked the British High Commissioner for his visit.
