The Akim Oda Magistrate’s Court in the Birim Central Municipality has sentenced Kwabena Buameh, a farmer, to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for causing damage to items valued at GH¢200.00.
The items belong to Abena Ntiriwaah, a trader, whose life was also threatened by Buameh.
Buameh admitted causing unlawful damage and threat of death.
Briefing the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu-Annor, Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang said both Madam Ntiriwaah and Buameh lived at Akim Ayirebi and that she engaged the services of Buameh on her farm and trading activities.
Chief Inspector Appiakorang said on April 28, this year, at about 2300 hours while the complainant was asleep, Buameh opened her window from outside and pushed her room divider down resulting in the breakage of her drinking glasses, plates and sowing machine, all estimated at GH¢200.
She stated that Madam Ntiriwaah made a report to the police but Buameh absconded and was later arrested at his hideout by the brother of Madam Ntiriwaah and handed over to the police.
The Chief Inspector stated that while investigation was ongoing, Buameh was released on police enquiry bail and that on May 10, when Madam Ntiriwaah was going to the farm she met Buameh on the way, wielding a cutlass and threatened to kill her.
She said a report was made to the police and Buameh was arrested, interrogated and arraigned.
