The fifth Human Resource (HR) Focus conference was held in Accra on the theme: “Technology Driven HR: People, Process and Performance”.
It attracted more than 300 human resource practitioners and business leaders, to discuss and find solutions to issues affecting labour, and equip job seekers, students, employees and professionals with the right inputs to be able to make informed decision concerning their career.
The HR Facilities and Administration Director at the Tullow Ghana, Mrs. Irene Asare, urged HR practitioners to embrace technology to ensure efficiency.
He urged HR practitioners to avail themselves of modern technology saying “Technology can drive efficiency and as well enhance service delivery, if only we can utilise the improvement it has brought in our line of work to better our work.”
Reverend Mrs. Celia Apeagyei-Collins, Founder of the Rehoboth Foundation, said HR had become “an evolve-or-die situation and it is time for HR people in management to take cue from that”.
He asked HR practitioners to sharpen their skills as leaders with vision to complement the change.
Rev. Mrs. Apeagyei-Collins said change required visionary leaders and equally competent subordinates asking “as we seek change, are we ready as practitioners to learn, train and refine skills of those under our jurisdiction ?”
Mrs. Ellen Hagan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HR Focus Magazine, said the theme for the event was strategically chosen to deepen the call for the inclusion of technology in HR practice.
