Additionally, it donated a cash of GHC 2,000 to the Centre.

Mrs. Christie Esi Bobobee, the Administrator of Stool Lands, who presented the items on behalf of her outfit, said it was part of the Office’s social responsibility.

“As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the OASL, the Management of the Office has decided to make a charity donation as part of our social responsibility and has selected the Burns' Unit within Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as the recipient of our donation to meet some of the pressing needs of the ward.” She commended the Management and Staff of the Centre for their commitment and dedication to work, despite the difficult environment under which they operated.

She made a special appeal to the Management of the Centre to ensure that the Female and Children’s wards received an air conditioner each. Mrs. Bobobee  appealed to the Ghana National Fire Service and other related outfits to intensify their educational efforts on how to prevent and manage domestic fires.

The Administrator of Stool Lands also appealed to Ghanaians not to see issues pertaining to fires as the preserve of the institutions charged with that responsibility, explaining that, every Ghanaian must be interested in knowing more about fires, how to prevent them and also manage domestic burns.

Dr Albert Paintsil, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, who represented the Head of the NRPS and Burns Centre, in a welcome statement, on behalf of the Director General of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, registered the Centre’s gratitude to the OASL for extending the hand of support to them.

He said, the Centre was commissioned in May 1997.

Dr Paintsil said the Centre was one of the busiest at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, treating all kinds of burns, especially, the severe types of trauma, ulcers, and congenital abnormalities.

Later in an interview, Mrs Bobobee disclosed that, the OASL would hold a Thanksgiving Service at the Global Evangelical Church, Disciplers' Chapel at Tesano in Accra to Climax their 20th Anniversary Celebrations.

The OASL is responsible for the collection and disbursement of stool land revenues as mandated by Article 266 (2,6-8) of the 1992 Constitution and Act 481 and is to report to Parliament.

Apart from administering stool land revenue, the office consults and coordinates with the relevant public agencies, stools, traditional authorities on matters relating to administration and development of stool lands and research into stool land issues.
