It is therefore, liaising with the traditional authorities to secure lands for the project scheduled to start soon.

Mr. Joseph Kwesi Holison, the Regional Director, disclosed this at a media interaction with a cross section of journalists in Sunyani, at the weekend.

The meeting was to highlight some development projects taking place under the YEA in the Brong Ahafo Region.

He said the YEA had deployed 6,489 personnel, made up of 3,278 males and 3,211 females in various modules such as health, education, security services, among others.

The figure, according to the Regional Director, represented 10 per cent of the national figure of those employed so far.

Mr. Holison said with the oncoming of the agricultural module many unemployed youth in the region had been targeted with focus on cultivating in large quantities to support the local economy.

He said many dams would be constructed to ensure all-year-round farming to boost production of maize and other food crops in the region.

Mr. Holison allayed the personnel’s fears of losing their jobs should there be a change of government, saying the establishment of the agency was backed by a law (Act 8887) passed by Parliament, and it was impossible for any body to be thrown out of job with the coming of a new administration.
