They expressed concern  that most of the equipment and machines used in training inmates in employable skills, such as Kente weaving, and tie / dye making  were either not in good shape or completely broken down.

The inmates made the appeal through The Mirror in an interview when members of the Women’s Fellowship of the Asokwa Church of Pentecost (Mckweon Temple), presented some items to them.

The items worth GH¢5,000  include, 10bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, a bag of Gari, and boxes of tinned tomatoes.

The cell leader (name withheld) who led the inmates said the prison had not received much attention and stressed that existing facilities at the premises could not cater adequately for the increasing number of inmates.

The group shared the word of God with the inmates, feted them and treated them to some gospel songs amidst dancing.

 Mrs Dina Oppong Adjei, a Local leader at the Mckweon Temple, who spoke on the group’s behalf, said that as Christian mothers it was incumbent on them to extend their generosity to all in society especially, the vulnerable.

She pledged the group’s continued assistance to the female prison as well as the Male prisons.

The Officer-in-charge of Religious Affairs of the prison, DSP Dora Annan, who received the items on behalf of the inmates, thanked the group for remembering the vulnerable in society, adding that the items had come at a time that the prison was in dire need of such relief items considering the increasing number of inmates.
