Kampaku Na Yakubu Abdulai Andani, Regent of Dagbon has presented a quantity of items worth hundreds of Ghana Cedis to 116 Yendi Prison inmates who are mostly Muslims at Yendi in the Northern Region for their Ramadan fasting.
The items include; quantity of mini bags of sugar, maxi bags of maize, cartons of Lipton tea and loaves of bread. Walana Sulemana Abdulai who presented the items on behalf of the Regent said he found it necessary to donate the items to the inmates as it was the time for Ramadan fasting.
He indicated that since some of the Muslims were found in the prisons and were also fasting, he decided to help them with the items to encourage them to fast and also pray for forgiveness to be reformed.
He appealed to the Prison Officers to handle the inmates humanely by reforming them so that they would not go back to waywardness on their discharge. Kampakuya Andani advised the inmates to take all skills they have acquired seriously so that when they get out of prison they could lead useful lives.
Superintendent Suuk Dumong, Prisons Officer who received the items on behalf of the Yendi Municipal Prison Commander Superintendent Frank Okyere expressed their gratitude to the Regent for always remembering the prison inmates. He announced that it was their duty as a service to reform the inmates to be integrated into society and appealed to relatives of inmates to accept them into society when they are discharged from prison.
