Environmental sanitation has been made the main focus of this year’s “Kloyosikplemi festival celebration” by the Yilo Krobo Traditional Council. Oklepeme Nuer Anorbaa Sasraku II, the Paramount Chief, said keeping the area clean was his top priority.
That, he indicated, was the way to prevent diseases - ensure that the good health of the people, adding that, it was when the people were healthy that they could be productive. To show the seriousness the Council attached to sanitation, it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Drink Safe Water Group, an NGO, for effective waste management in the area.
Under it, the NGO would train and adequately resource a group of people – provide them with vital equipment and tools, to stop littering and dumping waste at unauthorized points.Mr. Krobea Asante, Convener for Drink Safe Water Group, said the goal was to protect the health of the people. He added that the “Clean Krobo streets project” would not be limited to only the Somanya town but to cover the entire municipality.
He spoke of the determination of his organization to go to every length to deliver the intended outcomes. The “Kloyosikplemi festival” is celebrated by the Yilo Krobos and this year’s event would be held from November 01 – November 30.
