He said undercover reporting would put duty bearers on their toes to enhance development within the three regions, because it was an ideal method in the journalism profession that could expose ills such as corruption, mismanagement of funds and abuse of human rights in society.

The undercover journalist made the call during the National Media Festival in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region organized by The Press Foundation (TPF) on the theme; “Developing Northern Ghana, the role of the journalist”.

The programme was to present opportunity for journalists in the Northern, the Upper East and the Upper West Regions to tap the experience of some renowned media personalities from the area and how they could work together.

The occasion was also used to interact with stakeholders and the citizenry to find solutions to problems confronting the three regions.

Mr Anas indicated that for the three regions to attain the needed development, the media in those regions needed to go extra miles in exposing corrupt officials to deter others from doing same.

He debunked the general notion that the three regions were the poorest in the country and said those regions were blessed with both natural and human resources which were central to the development of any society in the world.

According to him, what the regions needed to do to propel development was to take the right decisions that would lead to the benefit of all, and lamented over greed and the lack of fairness in the delivery of justice which he indicated crippled progress in those regions.

Low self esteem and the lack of positive projection of the area, the undercover journalist, indicated were not good for the development of the regions, and therefore urged the media and citizens of the North to be ambassadors, and sell the good image of peace, love, honesty, rich natural and human resources and tourist attractions to other parts of the country and the world.

The undercover investigator, who displayed some of his works during the presentation, indicated that the institutions which were responsible to take the right decisions needed the assistance of the media to function properly and called for the collective efforts of the media to make it a reality.

He however, apologized to families of those who have been exposed through his works and said it was necessary to ensure fairness in the country to enhance even development.

While acknowledging the difficulty in his work, he urged young journalists to have passion and be adventurous as well as collaborate effectively with the security services to stand the test of time to make an impact.
