The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has assured residents of the newly created Tema West Municipality of its preparedness to complete all ongoing projects in the area.
The Tema West Municipality was inaugurated on Thursday after being ceded off the TMA.
Mr Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, who had oversight duties over the new municipality gave the assurance when he cut sod for the construction of a 12-unit classroom block each for the Old Lashibi one and two schools, and Community Seven number one and two schools.
Mr Anang-La said the inauguration of the Assembly did not mean all projects being undertaken by the TMA would come to a halt as they would continue to manage them until they were properly established. He announced that his outfit would continue to use its resources to mobilize revenue from the area which would be used to establish and develop the Tema West Municipality.
The MCE gave the assurance that the TMA would speed up the processes needed to make Tema West Municipality operational. Touching on the construction of the classroom blocks, he noted that the projects when completed in 12 months’ time, would have libraries, staff common rooms, computer rooms among others.
Mr Anang-La said the classroom projects were being undertaken as part of plans by the TMA to completely eliminate the shift education system, and replace dilapidated school buildings in Tema.
