Univeristy of Ghana Business School beat Takoradi Technical University and Pentecost University in the 1st edition of the Greater Accra and Western Zones preliminaries of the Business Challenge 2018 at the L'aine Events Centre in Adabraka, Accra.
The students were given various case studies centered on the business environment to discuss and were scored according to how well they presented their discussions.
Speaking with the winners from UGBS led by Obi Emmanuel, he said this is a competition where they had to think on their feet which will help them in the future. "After university, we are expected to enter into the job market with expertise and events like this help us to go out there, take chances and step forward" he said.
Speaking on the relevance of such competitions, Nana Serwaa Arthur, Manager for Focus Digital, said it would help to make students marketable to the world of work and improve their communication skills.
She said that it would help students to build self morale and also serve as a way to give back to the schools by helping them come up with ideas.
"This will help them pick up soft skills through experience, build leadership, confidence, morale and so on. We offer internship oppourtunities by working with L'aine and put them up with different companies including HR Focus. We allow them to create their products as well" she said.
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology also qualified in the Ashanti and Eastern zone preliminaries . They will join UGBS and other winners for the finals which will be held in October 2018.
