This, the district hope to achieve by increasing awareness about preventive interventions and services that are routinely provided in health facilities all year round for parents to take advantage of.

The week is on the theme: “Reaching Every Child with Essential Services; Use Your Child Health Book; Vaccinated Communities, Health Communities”.Ms Gertrude Keh, the Deputy Director of Nursing Service who launched the programme called on mothers and caregivers to take advantage of the services provided by child health services providers in their communities.

She said, the child needs to be immunized against preventable diseases immediately after birth such as tuberculosis and polio.Ms Keh said children have to be sent to health facility till the age of five.    This she explained was necessary because the children needed to be monitored monthly and their mothers also needed to be advised on the feeding and caring of the child depending on the weight and age of the child.

She advised pregnant women to use the treated mosquito nets to prevent malaria infection.

Ms Emmanuella Nyamadu, Madam Joyce Tseh and Mr Elvis Kofi Dugbenu were given awards as the best mothers and a father who constantly took their children to the Child Welfare Clinic monthly for monitoring.
