Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) Joshua Nguah, Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has appealed for assistance to embark on a fire safety education campaign.
He called on the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Region, to join the effort as it would reduce the increasing spate of fire outbreaks in the region.
ACFO Nguah said the regional fire office is intensifying its public education on fire safety management and prevention and this would require the support of the district assemblies.
Addressing officers as part of a familiarization tour of the Ejisu Municipal fire office, he said, continuous education is the surest way to reduce frequent fire outbreaks and its resultant fatalities - destruction of properties in the Region.
ACFO Nguah said Ashanti Region has a high incidence of fire outbreaks and it is important to continue in the effort to educate the people on the need to handle electrical appliances in their homes, market places and offices with care.
He commended fire officers in the Region for their hard work in view of the numerous challenges and appealed to the public to cooperate with them and adhere to fire safety measures.
