A Ghanaian-owned digital Transport Solutions Company, Enshika, was on Thursday launched in Accra. The application brings transport services to its clients in the comfort of their homes, with a number of security features as well as options that ensure maximum convenience.
The application has unique features such as the car type option, where a user could determine the type of vehicle he or she needs for the particular service required. The SUV’s, which fall’s into the self-drive category, is among the options available to prospective users.
Others are the mini car, the sedan, the gh taxi, which comes with a driver, as well as the Ride Now or Ride Later options, which makes it possible for a user to make specific bookings ahead of time, or instant bookings.
There is also the ride and redeem point feature, where users gain points for discount purchases. The application also has an emergency response system, dubbed the SOS, which makes it possible for incidents such as crime and fire to be easily reported. An armed robbery could for instance be easily reported even if the robbers are close to the one doing the reporting.
Other features are convenient payment platforms, the Enshika raffle, the work and pay option and a provision that makes it possible for a vehicle owner to trace the where about of his driver and car at any time, and a number of others.Mr. Ahmed Arthur, Board Chairman of the Metro Mass Transport ltd, officially launched the application and said the coming in of new transportation systems besides the traditional ones such as the taxis and trotros, was not a threat to the older forms of transportation but rather, a means of strengthening them.
Mr. Arthur who is also the Member of Parliament for the Okai Koi South constituency, expressed the hope, that in time, other vehicles such as buses and coaches, would also be included in the new innovations in public transport.
He said the training of drivers, especially on the need to be ethical, disciplined and law abiding, was crucial to the success of Enshika. Mr. Deepak Sachdeva, the group Chief Executive Officer, said Enshika was the first transport application that has integrated the digital addressing system for the safety of its drivers.
He said the application run on a cashless system, which makes it possible for users to fill their Enshika wallet through their banks or with mobile money. Mr. Sachdeva said users without digital phones or internet data, could use the ussd code to book for services.
