The Management of Centre for National Culture (Art Centre) on Tuesday pledged to support the National Commission on Culture to promote the Made in Ghana campaign.
Nana Otuo Owoahene Acheampong, the Art Centre Administrator said the pledge forms part of their effort to create awareness on the Wear Ghana Month as the country celebrates its 62nd independence anniversary.
Nana Acheampong told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the Wear Ghana Month would bring out the clear identity of the Ghanaian, the way "we dress and the type of fabrics we use."
He said the move was to promote locally manufactured products in the country as part of the activities to commemorate the Independence Day celebrations but it runs through the whole year.
Locally made traditional wears like 'Kente, Batakari, Fugu, local African prints popularly known as the batik or tie and dye and foot wears like 'chaw chaw, ahenema and Afro Moses' can be worn during the wear Ghana month to mark the celebrations," he added.
The Wear Ghana Month which was launched by the the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in collaboration with National Commission on Culture to create the awareness for the public to participate in the campaign.
He said the awareness which started in the Greater Accra Region would be replicated in all Regions and Districts.The Art Centre Administrator said as part of this year's Independence celebration, there would be variety of activities at the National Theatre on the March 15.
He said there would be a fashion show and an Awards Night to honour fashion industry players on March 30, to commemorate the entire programme for the month.
