Eco Restore Limited, an organisation dedicated to the sustainable management and restoration of natural resources, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Nyankpala Campus.
The three-year partnership, which is subject to renewal, aims to enhance environmental management, especially the restoration of indigenous tree species in the northern part of the country.
It was jointly signed by Professor Seidu Al-Hassan, Vice-Chancellor of UDS, Professor Ziblim Abukari Imoro, Vice Dean, Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment of UDS, and Dr Zakaria Issahaku, Co-Director of Eco Restore Limited.
Dr Peter Lovett, Co-Director of Eco Restore Limited, who witnessed the signing ceremony at the Nyankpala Campus of UDS in the Northern Region, described the initiative as a reflection of the organisation’s dedication to building strategic partnerships.
A critical component of the MoU is the active involvement of students from the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment in Eco Restore Limited’s projects.
It formed part of a broader effort to mentor and develop a new generation of leaders committed to the sustainable management and restoration of natural ecosystems with focus on indigenous trees.
Dr Lovett emphasised the importance of leveraging each other’s expertise and resources to combat environmental degradation and strengthen natural resource conservation.
He said the environment had faced numerous challenges over the years underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to prevent further deterioration and ensure long-term sustainability.
Professor Imoro highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying it aligned with the Facility’s mission of nurturing future leaders in environmental conservation, who would contribute to broader socio-economic development through sustainable practices.
