The Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT) last Saturday held a joint ceremony to graduate and matriculate students, urging them to pursue excellence for themselves and the country.
The founder and Chairman of the Governing Board of NSBT, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, in his address urged the graduates, in particular those who sought to be in leadership, to pursue honest, bold and exemplary leadership wherever they found themselves.
He further encouraged those who held leadership positions during their time on campus to carry those values with them.
“Leadership is not a title; it is a responsibility. Be honest. Be bold. Be good examples,” he told the graduates.
The ceremony marked the school's 2nd congregation and 4th matriculation and brought together families, faculty members, students and distinguished guests.
It was on the theme: “Empowering graduates to drive innovation and creativity for economic growth and development".
In all, 25 students, 11 and 14 from the 2023 and 2024 academic year groups, respectively, graduated.
Three students graduated with first-class honours, 14 with second-class upper division, five with second-class lower, two with third class, and one with a pass.
Sixty-two new students were also matriculated.
Dr Nduom underscored the school’s mission to nurture forward-thinking professionals ready to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
He further urged the graduates to reflect on the school’s values and carry them into the next phase of their lives.
Drawing on the institution’s motto, "Light, talent, leadership”, he encouraged the graduating class to become sources of light wherever they found themselves.
“Your time here has not only equipped you with knowledge but has prepared you to shine. Let your light make room for you and others,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of self-reliance and national service, urging graduates to make good use of their natural talents and the skills they had acquired to benefit both themselves and the country.
“What you have is not just for your personal progress it is for Ghana,” Dr Nduom noted.
Dr Nduom also revealed the institution’s intention to secure a licence for GN Bank to enable it to resume operation, so that it would serve as a practical training ground for students, particularly those studying banking and finance.
“This will help them understand how banking works, beyond the theory,” he explained.
The Rector of NSBT, Prof. Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, expressed appreciation to the staff and management of the school for their consistent commitment to student success.
He urged the alumni to go out and make a difference with the knowledge and values they had received.
Prof. Nyarko advised the new students to remain focused and disciplined throughout their academic journey.
He also announced the introduction of French language instruction into the school’s banking programme.
“Given that most of our neighbouring countries speak French, we believe this move will open doors for our students in regional and global markets,” he stated.
He added that ethics training remained a cornerstone of the school’s approach to teaching, ensuring that students left the institution not only with academic qualifications but also with the practical and moral foundation needed to excel in the workplace.
"As NSBT continues to grow, it remains committed to producing graduates who will bring fresh ideas, bold innovations, and ethical leadership to the world of business and beyond," he said.
A representative of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Elvis Ofori Ameyaw, conferred degrees on the graduating class and extended the university's best wishes to them as they stepped into the next chapter of their lives.
