Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemanghas concluded her participation in the AU-EU Summit in Luanda, Angola, with a meeting with Ghanaians residing in the country.”
The Vice President and her delegation were hosted by Madam Mavis Esi Kusorgbor, Ghana’s Ambassador to Angola.
A statement issued by the Office of the Vice President said she conveyed greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and reflected on the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Angola.
She noted that it was rooted in Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s vision of supporting the liberation and progress of African nations.
She said Dr Nkrumah’s belief in shared freedom and dignity continued to guide them today.
She expressed their appreciation for the outstanding reputation of the Ghanaian community in Angola.
The Vice President said the Ambassador’s reports of zero incidents of wrongdoing since she assumed office spoke to the discipline, integrity, and commitment of our nationals here.
She encouraged all Ghanaians to register with the Embassy to ensure access to accurate information and proper support.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang also emphasised the Government’s commitment to advancing inclusive national development, lifting those on the margins, especially women and children, and addressing fundamental needs such as food, water, shelter, and opportunity.
She said Ghana aimed to be self-sufficient, particularly in food production, highlighting the Government’s resolve to add value to the natural resources rather than exporting them all in their raw form.
“This will create jobs, retain wealth, and transform communities. We want Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, to feel the benefit of national growth,” she said.
The Vice President assured the community of Government’s recognition of their diverse skills and contributions.
“We are building a government that works with the people, not just for the people. Our vision for national progress requires collective collaboration and unity,” she said.
