Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Akim South, has donated 2,000 Ghana cedis to victims of a windstorm that hit Banso, a farming community in the Ashanti Region, killing a married couple returning from farm.
Nana Kyei Ababio, Chief of Banso, received the money that would be used in purchasing roofing sheets for the rehabilitation of buildings that had their roofs ripped off.
Presenting the money, Mrs Ohene-Konadu said she personally mobilized the funds from philanthropists and corporate bodies in aid of affected persons.
She called for equitable distribution of the roofing sheets that would be purchased and pledged to make more donations.
Mrs Ohene-Konadu urged the people to plant trees around their buildings to serve as windbreak.
Nana Kyei Ababio thanked the MP for the gesture and gave the assurance that the building items would be fairly distributed among the victims.
He appealed to individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the victims.
