An attacker whose name was given as Dan from Dekpor near Dzodze, was reportedly shot dead by the Police in Ho when he attempted to break into the Regional Minister's apartment at about 2200 hours on Monday.
An eyewitness told the Ghana New Agency (GNA) that, Dan who wore several talismans on him, managed to overpower the police at the main gate, attacked anyone he saw on his way to the Minister's apartment but was shot after the police called for reinforcement.
The eyewitness said Dan about 30 years old, managed to break the glass door to the Minister's seating room.
The Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi was said not to be in the residency during the attack.
A source at the Minister's residence said Dan allegedly told the Police at the main gate that he was looking for one Adjei Mensah also called "Para", a driver who resided at the house.
Effort to contact Mr Benard Dery, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Volta Region has failed.
Police sources at the residency have, however, confirmed the incident to the GNA.
Information gathered by the GNA indicated that telephone lines in the residency were not functional for some time now.
