Kofi Apruku, 25, was on Tuesday remanded by a Kumasi Circuit Court for allegedly possessing a locally manufactured pistol.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and would be brought back to the Court on August 12, 2008.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector, Archibald K. Fandoh told the Court that the complainants who are policemen are stationed at the Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the accused person is also a resident of Kumasi.
The Prosecutor explained that on May 9, this year at about 1430hrs when the complainant were on observation duty at Kejetia, they had a tip off that Apruku was keeping the pistol and some cartridges.
He added that the police with the help of informant found the accused and arrested him.
A search conducted on him revealed one locally manufactured pistol in addition to four live gardening gun (am) Cartridges, he said.
Chief Inspector Fandoh stated that during interrogation, Apruku confessed possessing the gun hence he was sent to the police station, saying in the course of investigation, the docket was sent to the Attorney General's Office for advice and upon that he was charged and arraigned.
