Alhaji Ishak Abubakar Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive of Asunafo North in the Brong Ahafo Region, has urged contractors executing government projects to employ more local people.
The MCE made the call at a sod-cutting ceremony at Akrodie to mark the official commencement of work on a 17 kilometre Akrodie junction through Akrodie to Fawohoyeden road.
The project is estimated at 3,680 Ghana cedis and is expected to be completed within 15 months.
It is being executed by LADCO Ltd, an Accra-based road construction firm.
Speaking at the durbar of chiefs and people of Akrodie, Alhaji Bonsu lauded the government's commitment to the development of rural areas and urged the people to support government efforts.
He appealed to the communities along the road to cooperate with the contactor to enable him to complete the contract on schedule.
Mr Robert Safo Mensah, MP for Asunafo North, said more developmental projects had been approved by the government to be undertaken in rural areas in the country.
He urged the people to vote massively for the NPP government to enable it continue with what its good works.
A similar durbar was held at Fawohoyeden and Ayomso to mark the commencement of work on the 8.7 kilometre road linking Fawohoyeden through Ayomso to Goaso.
The 180,000 Ghana cedis project is being executed by ACHWEK works, an Accra based contractor and is expected to be completed in 10 months.
