The Awutu-Senya District Assembly has supported the police at Kasoa with 10 mobile phones and four land phones to ensure effective and efficient operation.
Mr Solomon Abbam-Quaye, District Chief Executive, said this at the 24th Farmers Day Celebration jointly organised by the Effutu Municipal and the Awutu-Senya District Assemblies at Awutu Beraku.
Thirty-Seven farmers and fishermen were awarded for their hard work and dedicated service.
Mr Abbam-Quaye said the security situation in Kasoa was very alarming, especially when the election 2008 was around the corner.
He therefore appealed to the Inspector General of Police to resource the Kasoa Police with more vehicles and other equipment to enable them to perform their duty effectively.
Mr Abbam-Quaye appealed to the police administration to intervene to reduce the numerous police check-points on the Kasoa-Akotsi Junction and Kasoa-Bawjiase roads.
He said there were about four police check points on each of the roads, a situation that disturbed workers and traders due to delays.
"Much as we support the police in discharging their duties, we think the MTTU check points are too many," he said.
Touching on the elections, Mr Abbam-Quaye appealed to the people to ensure peaceful elections by avoiding things that could inflame passions.
He urged them not to allow themselves to be used by any political party to create confusion during and after the elections.
The DCE assured the people that the security services in the district were firmly on the ground and anybody who attempted to create any problem would be dealt with according to the law.
