Leading NRI industrialist and Chancellor of UK's Westminster University has said that his varsity is exploring a staff development scheme with the Universities in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
"We are already working with the University of Mumbai on a staff development scheme and this was one of the options we are looking at with universities in Andhra Pradesh," Lord Paul told PTI.
He said a high-level delegation from Andhra Pradesh, led by the state Governor N D Tiwari, visited the University of Westminster here recently to discuss a number of areas of possible cooperation.
The visit, organised by Lord Paul, was aimed at building on the University's existing links with the Indian sub-continent, including a staff development initiative at the University of Mumbai.
Visiting delegation included the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education Professor K C Reddy and two university vice chancellors.
"The visit went very well and we had very constructive discussions on a number of possible areas of cooperation," Lord Paul said.
Westminster currently has two leading members of its Education Initiative Centre (EIC) working with the University of Mumbai and its 400 associated colleges.
The EIC is the focal point at Westminster for combining the broad range of teaching innovations and staff development activities to provide high quality learning opportunities for students.
