The Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, last Saturday joined the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, in a health walk to galvanize support for national efforts aimed at curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The two chiefs put their rich Kente clothes and gold ornaments and wore sports suits for the five-kilometre walk from Asikam and ended at the forecourt of the Ofori Panin Palace at Kyebi.
Hundreds of school children from the Abuakwa State College, the Kibi Technical Institute and some other basic schools and keep fit clubs joined the 'health retinue' of the two chiefs as they drummed their support for responsible lifestyles to avoid HIV/AIDS.
As well as being a health programme, the occasion was also used to urge restrain in Ghana's body-politic devoid of any violence and arbitrariness, which might mar the beauty of Ghana's democratic dispensation built over the past 16 years.
Both the Okyenhene and the Dormaahene underscored the need for the youth to resist the temptation of being used as cannon fodder to foment strife or to engage in actions that might cause them irreparable damage.
They advised the youth to be responsible about reproductive choices they make as any ill-informed decision might lead to the contraction of the deadly disease.
The Eastern Regional HIV/AIDS Programme Coordinator, Dr S.B. Ofori, who led a team of health professionals to educate the students on the 'Know your HIV status' campaign, commended the two chiefs for the strong leadership in drawing attention to HIV/AIDS.
