Mr. Ishmael Lansah, the Executive Secretary of the Northern Ghana for Development, a coalition of non-governmental organisations, has called on the government to implement the Northern Development Fund (NDF) initiated by the Kufuor administration.
He said that it was possible to integrate the Fund, and the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), proposed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Lansah told GNA in Tamale on Wednesday that plans had been made for the take-off of the NDF and what was left to be done was the establishment of the board of directors of the initiative.
He explained that the difference between the two initiatives was that while the NDF was to ensure solely poverty alleviation in Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, the SADA included parts of the Brong Ahafo and Volta Regions.
Mr Lansah suggested to the government to use the frameworks of the NDF and the SADA for easy implementation adding that the three Northern Regions needed speedy economic interventions.
