The Bibiani Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako, has remanded a 17 year-old unemployed, Afua Grace, into Police custody for stealing GH¢200.
She stole the money from Ibrahamatu Alhasan, 22, a fried yam seller at Bibiani.
Afua Grace pleaded guilty, but said she stole GH¢100 and not GH¢200 as was alleged by the complainant.
The accused would re-appear on February 17.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector Lucky Goglomi, told the court that on February 1, 2009, at about 0800 hours, the accused approached the complainant to do business with her, but the complainant refused.
He said the complainant, who had kept her money in a bag, left for the market, so the accused took advantage of her absence and went and stole the money.
Inspector Goglomi said the complainant, returning from the market and detecting the loss of her money, suspected the accused and reported the case to the police.
He said the accused was arrested by the Police and upon interrogation admitted stealing GH¢100 but not GH¢200 as claimed by the complainant.
The Prosecutor later said the accused led the Police to a secret place where she had kept three pieces of cloth, three pairs of sandals and some hair creams, which she used part of the stolen money to purchase.
Inspector Goglomi said after investigations the accused was charged with stealing.
