A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court, on Thursday, sentenced Paul Ameyaw, a farmer at Shama, to two years imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry and two counts of stealing.
The accused pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eben Darko, said at about 0130hrs on January 5 this year, some witnesses in the case saw the accused person breaking into the room of James Paa Subeng at Shama, and raised the alarm.
He said the accused took to his heels and when he was chased by the witnesses, he left behind his right foot slipper, a T-Shirt and a kitchen stool.
Chief Inspector Darko said while running away, the accused fell into a ditch but managed to escape, but the witnesses found him in his house, bleeding from his right leg, as a result of the fall.
He said the witnesses arrested the accused and handed him over to the Police, together with the items he abandoned when he was chased.
Chief Inspector Darko said the witnesses informed the complainants in the case, Elizabeth York and Martha Ewusi about the incident and when Elizabeth went to her room, she detected the theft of 42 pairs of louver frames and 328 louver blades with a total value of ¢GH615.
He said later, Martha went to the Police Station and identified the kitchen stool as hers.
In his caution statement, the accused admitted stealing the kitchen stool but denied knowledge of the louver frames and blades.
