A suspected manipulated blast occurred Sunday at a regional office building of Japan Broadcasting Corp., known as NHK, but no one was hurt, local police said.
The explosion happened at an entrance of the Fukuoka bureau around 5:30 p.m. The NHK bureau said its security camera recorded a man wearing a white
mask and sunglasses placing a bag at the site and walking away shortly before the explosion.
The police have begun an investigation on suspicion of attempted arson, as a bag containing a polyethylene tank with gasoline or oil and a cooking gas canister was found at the site of the explosion.
The broadcaster said it had not received any blackmails or threats.
